MONGOLIA IS SELECTED FOR UNCTAD EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME FOR NATIONAL TRADE FACILITATION COMMITTEES

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) launched the “National Trade Facilitation Committee Empowerment Programme” in 2016, and Mongolia is one of 24 countries currently participating.

The Programme is divided into two phases. In the first phase, E-learning courses were successfully conducted for members of the National Trade Facilitation Commission and national trainers were trained at the international level. Ninety percent of these trainers were Customs officers.

The next phase of the Programme includes the implementation and evaluation of each of the 36 measures outlined in the WTO TFA, Improving national capacity to better respond  against a health crisis such as the COVID -19  pandemic as well as ensure the minimum disruption  of trade flows by providing a focused yet rapid look  into the available national emergency regulations  pertaining to Trade facilitation and its application in  times of crisis.

In this regards, the trainings of the Reform team was organized by National Trade Facilitation Committee by 8 September 2021, under the topic of  “Reform track of Trade Facilitation in Mongolia” and discussed in detail the implentation process.

In addition to government agencies, the participation of individual and business entities involved in international trade will play an important role in this Programme.
