The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) initiated the “National Trade Facilitation Committee Empowerment Programme” in 2016, and Mongolia is one of 24 countries currently participating.

The Programme is divided into two phases. In the first phase, E-learning courses were successfully conducted for members of the National Trade Facilitation Commission. The next phase of the Programme includes the implementation and evaluation of each of the 36 measures, it has been successfully assessed.

In accordance with this, UNCTAD organized “Managing the Trade Facilitation Reform Tracker: Best practices sharing and lessons learned for administrators” meeting on 16 December 2021. over 120 participants joined the meeting to learn from practitioners about the best tips and recommendations to manage the Reform Tracker. During the meeting Mongolia, Lesotho and Ecuador shared their best practices sharing, and lessons learned with other members.

Mr. Daniel Legarda, Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade of Ecuador, stated that "The Empowerment Programme of the National Committee for Trade Facilitation supports the continuity of international trade". The members complimented on Mongolia’s experience sharing and working methodology in Trade facilitation.
